Western Canoeing and Kayaking along with Purple Hayes School of Kayaking are offering a “safety tune up day” at WCK and a casual paddle after on the Chilliwack. The goal is to practice our safety techniques with the supervision of a professional rescue instructor. Kay from Purple Hayes will be available to answer questions regarding safety techniques. We will meet at WCK and work on things like throw bagging, 3 to1 z-drags, knots and river signals. After the dry land practice we will be going to the Chilliwack River for a paddle (this is not a guided trip). We will paddle a section appropriate for the skill of the paddlers and possibly break into two groups depending on the size. Ryan has volunteered to get wet and see how well our throw bag aim is.
There will be Wavesport and Dagger boats as well as AT and Werner paddles available for demo by request.

The event will take place on February 21st, starting at 9am. There will be coffee and donuts as well.
WCK will be open Sunday morning during the “Safety Tune Up Day” and is having their annual “Gear Up For Safety Week Sale”.
